November 20, 2010 - 10:00am - 12:00pm

Blind and visually impaired students aged 6-18 are invited.

Blind students will learn about Tactile Graphics. Tactile graphics are images that use raised surfaces so that a blind or visually impaired person can feel them. They are used to convey non-textual information such as maps, paintings, graphs and diagrams.

Students will be supervised by blind adults, members of Texas Parents of Blind Children and by a Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired.

RSVPs are VERY IMPORTANT so we know how many to plan for.

Please register with Kim Cunningham at kim@tpobc.org or call 713-501-9659 as soon as possible to reserve your child's place! You can also register online using the form below.

Our purpose is to have a free monthly activity to:

  • Supplement Braille and cane travel skills
  • Provide social opportunities for blind children
  • Expose kids to fun, new activities
  • Provide resources for families to learn basic Braille

The activities will be led by teachers of blind students and parents of blind children. Activities are for blind children only. Child care for siblings will not be provided. Parents are welcome to drop their blind children off, or they may stay to attend a parent meeting.

We will have a Braille book exchange at each monthly activity. Please bring any Braille books that your child has outgrown or finished reading and trade them for new ones.
